Knowing what journalists are being recruited for in 2013. And knowing how to sell it to them..

Skills abound!

Yes. Editors will be on the prowl for an abundance of skills in the kinds of people they hunt down to report, investigate and cover stories for their different media formats throughout 2013.

The New York Times for instance requires journalists that are capable of cutting videos and shooting, podcasting, coding or data analysis at the same time as possessing journalistic qualities such as hunting down a story, asking the right questions and provoking informative analysis whilst making sure they get their piece in on-time and on-format.

Ever faithful to the profession and on the flip-side to the NYTimes, the good old BBC (specifically BBC Online News) are still on the lookout for the old fashioned skills.

To paraphrase Steven Herman (Editor, BBC Online), one of the skills that is ever demanded and has not changed is basic curiosity and resourcefulness and another one is really about writing and about being accurate and clear about how you express yourself. And to do that under pressure and quickly.

That is how we at mesogio have being piecing client strategies out since day one.
