Do you love helping connect people? Do you want to work for a young and fun company that is driven by social technology? mesogio, a comms agency based in Brussels, is looking for a smart, forward thinking Intern. We’re looking for someone that is able to engage a wide audience.
This intern is responsible for helping implement mesogio’s marketing, sales, and social media strategy. The responsibilities include new emerging social technologies designed to help our clients, such as blogging, managing social media, and staying on track with new media through researching innovative tools and trends. There will also be a blend of traditional online and offline marketing activities, including event planning, pitching stories, organising media mentions, and applying for awards.
We work with a variety of clients, from European Union Institutions, leading nonprofits and universities to small start-ups. You will need to apply your expertise in the communication sphere to create strategies that our clients can use to engage more of their constituents, and that our company can use to reach new clients.
What type of work will you be doing, you ask?
Primary Responsibilities
– Raise mesogio’s profile. We have gotten some ink since starting-up a few months ago, but we need your help to identify new opportunities and make sure the right people know about the work we are doing.
– Strategise for our clients. Many of our clients hire us because of our expertise in implementing social technologies. You’ll be given specific tasks and projects to help our clients engage with their constituents.
– Blogging. We have a very active blog where we like to share new information we have learned with our clients and readers, from lists to articles to interviews.
– Teach us something. We’re expecting you to be an expert in areas we haven’t thought of yet. You should be able to bring something to the table that we don’t know about.
– Help us get organised. We love learning, teaching, and sharing – but we sometimes need to get our house in order so that we don’t lose track of what’s happening.
– Organise Media Mentions. We want to further incorporate the news media with what we are up to. You will be in charge of writing press releases in non traditional, innovative ways – so lots of creative freedom here (tick!)
Requirements
– Excellent written and communication skills. Don’t make us correct your passive voice – and you don’t need to be a native English speaker – just really, reaaallly good.
– Proven experience using social media tools like Twitter and Facebook and knowledge of other relevant networks like Tumblr and WordPress.
– Experience writing press releases, building media lists and pitching stories.
– Strong interest in video production (yep we will be doing lots of interesting things in the world of vid this year).
– Vivid interest for infographics…hmmm
– An entrepreneurial spirit. Must be very self-directed and driven to give 110%, 100% of the time.
– Ability to make us laugh.
– Passionate about making clients feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
– Some background in graphic design or fine arts preferred (not absolutely required).
– Graduate or current graduate student, such as master’s in public relations, communication, business, EU/International affairs preferred.
How to Apply
Interested? Great! No boring resumes or cover letters allowed! Instead, why don’t you show us what kind of work you’d actually be able to produce on the job? Be creative. Show us what you are all about. Any efforts are welcome, including, but not limited to:
Show us the type of content you would create to promote mesogio
– Write a blog post
– Write a press release announcing an event you’re planning
